Dr. Rosenberg attended the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy from 1974 to 1978, receiving the rho chi academic award for excellence. After completing his pharmaceutical training, he attended medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, graduating in 1981. In January of 1982, he began surgical residency at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, where he completed one year of his training, then decided to switch to obstetrics and gynecology and entered the residence program at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak Michigan. While at Royal Oak Beaumont, he became chief resident and during his residency there, he published numerous papers in the area of gynecologic oncology. He completed the Gallaway fellowship for gynecologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in Manhattan. Upon completing his residency in general obstetrics and gynecology, he began a fellowship at Roswell Park Beaumont Hospital in Troy Michigan becoming the chief of the department.

During this time as a practicing OB/GYN, he came to realize that a large percentage of patients were experiencing psychiatric illnesses that were going untreated. He then decided to enter a residency in psychiatry at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, a Wayne State University affiliate. While in residency, he focused on how hormones affected psychiatric illnesses. He also wrote a paper on PMDD, published in Clinics in Infertility. When completing his psychiatric residency, he established Reproductive Psychopharmacology. This practice focused on the female patient and how hormonal fluctuation can affect the efficacy of medications. He continued practicing obstetrics for five years and then practiced only outpatient gynecology and psychiatry. There was an intense interest in postpartum depression and he authored a book entitled Conquering Postpartum Depression.

He continues doing clinical trials on the treatment of gravid and postpartum patients. In 2010, he started the Michigan TMS Center for Women. He continue to pursue better diagnostic and therapeutic treatments for the female patient.
